There are many smartphone brands joining the laptop segment, and apparently, POCO will be joining it soon. Earlier this month POCO’s head of product marketing, Angus Ng, in an interview revealed that the company is looking to expand its ecosystem and launch some new wearables and AIoT products in 2022. The brand will unveil a truly wireless headset and some power banks as well as affordable wearables. Now, it seems that POCO is also preparing something bigger and the first POCO Laptops are coming soon.
POCO Laptop series coming soon
Although, according to a new report from 91mobiles, POCO will soon launch a laptop in India. The news was reported by tipster Mukul Sharma, a Redmi G series laptop battery that has been certified by India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The launch hints at an imminent launch of POCO’s first laptop in the country.
Redmi G series laptop battery with build number G16B01W was recently spotted on the BIS website under POCO branding. The battery draws its powers from a 3,620 mAh capacity which is a 55.02Wh battery unit. This battery looks like a replacement battery. POCO can very well launch a gaming laptop. But so far nothing has been confirmed.
Gizchina News of the week
Worth noting that this is not the first time a Redmi branded battery has been listed under POCO branding. However, it is the first time since POCO announced its ecosystem expansion. Joining the dots, we can say that POCO might be looking to launch a laptop in India in the coming months. However, for now, it is better to take these with a slight grain of salt.
The device can be a rebranded variation of the Redmi G 2021. For comparison, the Redmi G 2021 gaming laptop packs a 16-inch LCD with a 144 Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it packs an Intel Core i5-11260H processor and has 16 GB of RAM with 512 GB of Internal Storage. There is also an AMD-tier version with the Ryzen 7 5800 variant. It comes with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of Internal Storage.
Apart from the product lineup, POCO is also working to add more customizations that will be exclusive to POCO smartphones only. This may suggest the arrival of a new POCO UI that will be different from MIUI, or at least, a set of features coming exclusively for POCO devices. We can bet in the first option, as other brands’ subsidiaries are also betting in the strategy of separate software.
