Tesla Model Y high-performance version manufactured in China offers longer battery life

Tesla has been doing quite well in the electric vehicle market. Owners of the Chinese-produced Model Y high-performance version discovered that this version uses a new 12V lithium-ion battery. According to reports, Tesla Model Y entered the Chinese market for the first time on January 1, 2021. The official delivery of this car in China commenced on January 18 this year.

Currently, Tesla sells three versions of Model Y in China. These models include the rear-wheel-drive version, the long-range version, as well as the high-performance version. Among them, the high-performance version accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in only 3.7 seconds. In addition, the top speed of this car is 250 km/h. The NEDC cruising range is 566 km and the price is 387,900 yuan ($60,949).

Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory has just started the delivery of a high-performance version of the Chinese Model Y. After checking the power configuration of this version of the car, some car owners found that Tesla had replaced the 12V lead-acid battery with a 12V lithium-ion battery. This 12V lithium-ion battery is much smaller than the conventional lead-acid batteries used in gasoline cars. This allows Tesla to save space in the front of the car. At the same time, this battery also has a longer life cycle.

In August this year, Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory annual output of Model Y and Model 3 hit 450,000. There are speculations that the Gigafactory may soon surpass the company’s factory in Fremont, California. If this happens, it will become the world’s largest electric vehicle factory.
