After several years of research and development, Oppo finally released its first foldable smartphone this afternoon. Introducing this smartphone, Liu Zuohu, Oppo’s Chief Product Officer said that the Oppo Find N comes with a “golden folding ratio”. The folding of this device takes into account the internal and external dual-screen experience. When closed, Oppo Find N has a small 5.49-inch external screen on the front. Although the overall size of this device in the folded state is small, it brings a better sliding feel and there is no pressure to handle it with one hand.
However, in the unfolded state, the Oppo Find N has a 7.1-inch super-large screen. This display uses Samsung E5 material and comes with a resolution of 1792 x 1920. Furthermore, this foldable smartphone supports a high 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports the LTPO automatic refresh rate adjustment between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. The screen ratio here is 8.4:9.
In order to strengthen the grip of this large-screen device, Oppo optimized the weight of the Find N to 275g. This weight is similar to some conventional flagships in the market. Oppo believes that this is the best large-screen foldable mobile phone with the best hand-feel.
The back shell of this device uses a 3D micro curved surface design that fits the contour of the palm. The Oppo Find N also brings a precision vertebral hinge, with 125 technical patents. This hinge was independently developed by Oppo. It increases the bending radius of the screen by 2 times and also reduces the screen crease by 48%. In fact, it almost completely eliminates the creasing issue. Since the hinge is hoverable, you can fold the screen at a certain angle to perform 4K time-lapse photography, hover selfies, hover fitness, etc., making it more convenient to use.
This is also the industry’s first seamless concealed hovering hinge with a maximum accuracy of 0.01mm. It is composed of 136 parts, which is more than twice the U-shaped hinge. However, it also cost more than 4 times that of the U-shaped hinge. This hinge” uses a foldable UTG ultra-thin glass on the inner screen. Oppo claims that after rigorous testing, it works in an environment of -20º and can fold 200,000 times without damage.
