According to Counterpoint Research, the mobile phone market share in the third quarter has undergone major changes. Vivo and Oppo both account for more than 20% of the market, forming the top dual powerhouses. The sixth-ranked Huawei’s Chinese shipments in the third quarter dropped by 77% year-on-year, and its market share is only 8%. In the statistics of other organizations, Huawei has been classified as “others”.
In this regard, many people may think that Huawei has basically lost its mobile phone business. However, what is less known is that Huawei’s position in the 5G mobile phone market is still difficult to shake. In the third quarter of 2021, the proportion of 5G mobile phone devices in the Chinese market continues to increase, reaching 27.4%.
In terms of brand market share, Huawei’s market share hit 30.7%, a decline from the second quarter. However, this is still enough for the company to rank first in the Chinese market. In other words, 30% of all 5G phones in China are Huawei phones.
