Qualcomm has recently unveiled its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset as its next big thing for the flagship segment. Now, companies are running to see which ones will be the first unveiling devices with this platform. We say Motorola with its Moto Edge X320, and we’re about to see Xiaomi with its Xiaomi 12 series. Other companies like iQOO are also preparing their next big contenders that will use this new platform. As a hardware-focused smartphone brand, the upcoming iQOO 9 series will bring QUalcomm’sx flagship SoC on top of many interesting technologies. The lineup will be composed of an iQOO 9 and 9 Pro and had been a target of multiple leaks in the past few days.

In the latest advancement, we got details about the iQOO 9 battery size and charging capabilities. The details come from no one else than the reputed Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station. According to the tipster, the iQOO 9 will go official in the first quarter of 2021. The iQOO 9 will come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED E5 display from Samsung with Full HD+ resolution. iQOO 9 and iQOO 9 Pro will come with 120W fast-charging

Furthermore, the iQOO 9 will sport a 4,650 mAh battery under the hood. It will support 120 W fast-charging straight out of the box. The battery’s size is already satisfactory, and 120 W charging means that you won’t have to wait much time to get back an entire day of usage. In terms of camera performance, the vanilla model will sport Vivo’s micro-gimbal OIS support. This is interesting, as we’re seeing Vivo X-series technologies entering the company’s sub-brand. iQOO never had a big focus on cameras, and this has been a standard for gaming smartphone brands. So, with a good OIS system, the iQOO 9 series will be ahead of many gaming devices in the market. The main camera will be a Samsung GN5 50 MP snapper with a sensor size of 1/1.5-inch.

The Pro variant gets a slightly larger battery with a 4,700 mAh capacity. It will also get the same 120 W charging treatment. Both devices will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood and are likely to have up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. We expect more details to keep coming in the next few days. According to the rumors, the iQOO 9 series will reach the Chinese market in January, other market might need to wait a bit longer.
