iPhone 15 Pro will be the first Apple phone without a notch

Recently, LeaksApplePro claims that Apple has transferred the previous Touch ID work and resources to the Face ID team.Ā This means that Apple will officially abandon the development of an under-screen fingerprint feature. The company will adjust the main research and development efforts to the direction of Face ID. Furthermore, it will also make a lot of effort on the under-screen camera technology. With respect to the notch, there are speculations that the iPhone 15 Pro may be the first iPhone to delete this design.

According to reports,Ā Apple initially planned to add an under-screen camera to the iPhone 13 Pro. However, the under-screen camera technology is still very far from perfect. There is a lot of work to be done on this technology. Thus, AppleĀ decided to postpone it for a few years for research.

Since the advent of iPhones, they either use a really thick top frame or use a notch design. The iPhone 15 Pro may be the first iPhone without any of these designs. However, Apple will not release this device until September next year. As for the upcoming iPhone 14 series, there is no certainty with regard to its design. Most likely, the iPhone 14 series will continue the notch design of the iPhone 13 series. However, there are also reports that the next-generation iPhones may use a punch-hole display. If this happens, iPhone 15 Pro will not be the first iPhone without a notch or thick bezel after all.

The Cupertino-based company has been working on in-screen fingerprint recognition for years, but it seems Face ID is the way to go, especially with Apple’s decision in January to shift all Touch ID work and resources to those working on Face ID team.Ā Recently, Apple released the iOS 15.4 Beta version to allow Face ID unlocking while wearing a mask, and this will continue to be a trend for almost all Apple products.Ā The next step is obvious, and it’s going to be ready soon – an under-screen Face ID sensor.

Apple now wants to take its time in the development of an under-screen camera. Although this feature is already commercial on Android, its performance is below par. Thus, Apple still has the opportunity to develop this technology and be a force to reckon with.
