Nubia Z40 Pro released – Android’s first wireless magnetic charging phone


A few hours ago, Chinese manufacturer Nubia officially released the Nubia Z40 Pro. This smartphone comes with a 3399 yuan ($538) starting price. The Z40 Pro is available in Interstellar Black and Galaxy Silver. The body weight is 199g and the thickness is 8.46mm. This flagship smartphone comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED flexible curved screen. The display supports 60Hz to 144Hz smart refresh, and has a peak brightness of 1000 nits.

In terms of hardware configuration, this device comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship processor. It also uses UFS3.1 and LPDDR5 storage specifications. On AnTuTu, like other Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphones, its running score exceeds 1 million. This device also uses dual speakers, Snapdragon Sound, and DTS sound effects.

In terms of heat dissipation, the Nubia Z40 Pro adopts a nine-layer encircling cold-sealed heat dissipation design. It covers the main heating chips through a variety of heat dissipation materials. The total heat dissipation area exceeds 35,000 square millimeters. Furthermore, it uses the industry’s first new aerospace-grade micro-nano-cavity graphene phase change chamber.

In addition, the smartphone comes with a  large 5000 mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging. Furthermore, this device also comes with an X-axis linear motor. A special edition of the Nubia Z40 Pro supports 15W magnetic wireless charging. This is the world’s first Android smartphone that supports magnetic wireless charging.

In the camera department, the device uses a 35mm 64MP main camera using a Sony IMX787 sensor. It also has an 8MP periscope telephoto and a 50MP wide-angle camera. This smartphone supports dual Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and full-pixel focusing.

Furthermore, the Nubia Z40 Pro uses the new NEOVISION 11 image engine and adopts the humanistic image color system to make photos show the true colors of humanities. In terms of shooting the starry sky, Nubia Z40 Pro integrates nine starry sky algorithms on the basis of the previous generation. The company collaborates with the National Astronomical Observatory and introduces a large database of more than 20,000 stars.

On the software end, the Nubia Z40 Pro comes with the new MyOS 12 system. The newly launched climber behavior lock screen makes step counting interesting. The ACT application keep-alive technology improves the background retention ability. There are also privacy features upgrades such as fuzzy positioning and microphone usage reminders.

In terms of availability, the Nubia Z40 Pro is already on pre-sale. The first official sale of this device will take place on March 2. The prices of this device are shown below

  • 8GB + 128GB: 3399 yuan ($538)
  • 8GB + 256GB: 3699 yuan ($586)
  • 12GB + 256GB: 3999 yuan ($633)
  • 12GB + 512GB: 4499 yuan ($712)

The Nubia Z40 Pro special edition that supports wireless magnetic charging is priced at:

  • 12GB + 256GB: 4299 yuan ($681)
  • 16GB + 1TB: 5999 yuan ($950)

In addition, Nubia Z40 Pro co-branded the “Under One Person”, launched a limited edition model, and also supports wireless magnetic charging. The price of this special edition 12GB + 256GB is 4299 yuan.
