Oppo is gearing up to introduce the Oppo Reno 8 series in the Chinese market. According to reports, the new devices will be quite compelling with good specifications and a new design. This design, in fact, will be the biggest refresh since the Oppo Reno 4 series. The company is preparing the terrain for the Oppo Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro, and Oppo Reno 8 SE. Oppo usually releases its new Reno smartphones in June-July and November-December. Based on recent leaks, the Oppo Reno 8 SE carries the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor and draws its powers from a 4,500 mAh battery, which has been a legacy capacity for Reno smartphones.
Oppo Reno 8 SE alleged specifications
The upcoming Oppo Reno 8 SE variant will flaunt a 6.43-inch OLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. The handset will also carry an Octa-Core MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor fabbed on TSMC’s 6nm process. The chipset brings a powerful Mali-G77 GPU. This chipset was launched earlier this year alongside the most powerful Dimensity 8100 SoC. This chipset is a follow-up to the Dimensity 1200 that conquered the market in the last year. We can expect the handset to come with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of Internal Storage. However, it may also bring a variant with 6 GB of RAM and with at least 128 GB of Internal Storage.
Gizchina News of the week
In terms of optics, the Oppo Reno 8 SE will pack a triple camera setup. There is a primary 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor. Alongside, there is an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP auxiliary snapper that could be either for depth or macro shots. For selfies and video calls, the device will bring a 32 MP snapper.
When it comes to the battery size, there will be a 4,500 mAh battery with 80 W SuperVOOC fast-charging support. The report also says that the company will come with a variant with “just” 65 W fast charging. Obviously, this one might be cheaper. We just don’t know exactly why Oppo would be selling two variants, with a small difference in charging. Anyway, in terms of software, the phone will bring Android 12 with Color OS 12 branch running on top.
The report also confirms an in-display fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers. The phone will miss the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which isn’t common among premium devices anymore.
Another rebranding is on the way
Apparently, the device will be rebranded as a OnePlus Nord 2T. Or perhaps, the OnePlus Nord 2T is actually the rebranded device. It’s hard to know, but these rebrandings are becoming common and sometimes, boring, among OnePlus, Realme, and Oppo devices. In fact, some rumors point out the Oppo Reno 8 being the OnePlus 10 that we’ve never seen.
