According to reports, despite the decline of the smartphone market this year, Apple is still trying to maintain its 2022 iPhone production in line with last year. Global smartphone shipments fell 11% in the first quarter of this year. This is the biggest drop in the smartphone market since the pandemic began two years ago. Apple is asking suppliers to assemble about 220 million iPhones. This is roughly the same number as last year.

Inside reports claim that Apple is keeping its shipments in line with last year because of the relatively stronger economic power of Apple’s customers. On the other hand, Apple’s software and services ecosystem has the strength to drive hardware sales. Furthermore, Apple currently lacks a strong competitor in the high-end market.

The company will launch the ‌iPhone 14‌ series in the fall. Compared with the ‌iPhone 13‌ series, the new phone has a major update in the camera module. It will also upgrade the screen technology and processing chip. In addition, Apple also asked Hon Hai to increase the stock of new machines. From this, it appears that Apple is very optimistic about the sales of the ‌iPhone 14‌ series.

Ming-Chi Kuo:iPhone 14 series production is stable

Earlier today, there were reports that the production of the iPhone 14 Max will be delayed by three weeks due to the epidemic. However, recent reports from Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple will not change the iPhone 14 release plan. Although the production of the iPhone 14 Max is behind, it is still under control. Suppliers can work overtime to catch up with the release schedule.

Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the challenge of the iPhone 14 is on the demand side, not the supply side. The supply will not be worse than last year, but if the demand is high, it will naturally cause shortages.

Gizchina News of the week

Apple has reportedly asked suppliers to expedite product development work to make up for lost time before delays affect typical manufacturing schedules. Apple is expected to launch four new iPhone models this year. After seeing lacklustre sales of the iPhone 13 mini, Apple is offering bigger screens for its 2022 flagship devices. The company will release the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In addition, the supply chain previously stated that among the four new iPhone 14 series models, at least one of the new iPhone 14 series is behind in the development schedule. The iPhone 14 Pro Max which will come from Pegatron has some delays. However, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max from Hon Hai did not see any delay. Apple is now relying on Hon Hai to ensure that it increases its production for the smartphone market.

iPhone 14 ProMotion display will drop to 1Hz

According to previous reports, some agencies claim that Apple now has a final date for the release of the iPhone 14 series. The report claims that the autumn new product launch conference is now set for September 13 (Tuesday). Obviously, the biggest protagonist of this conference is the iPhone 14 series.

Subsequently, the overwhelming rumours about the iPhone 14 began to fly all over the sky. According to the latest report from display analyst Ross Young, the ProMotion display used in the iPhone 14 Pro will be able to drop to the same 1Hz. Although the current iPhone 13 Pro series also supports 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate adjustment, the minimum can only be 10Hz.

The 1Hz limit frame rate will minimize the power consumption of the screen so that the AOD screen display function can be realized through simple lines and low-brightness pictures. At present, Apple Watch S6/S7 supports this 1Hz display, which also achieves the effect of an all-weather bright screen, making smartwatches more practical in basic display functions.

However, it should be noted that although some netizens think that the screen display is very important, according to the feedback of the vast majority of Android netizens, the screen display does not play a big role. Many users take their smartphones to a standby state when not in use. Thus, dropping to 1Hz may not be really relevant.
