On the evening of September 22, the British NCCU arrested a 17-year-old boy. He is suspected to be the famous hacker who broke the Uber system and leaked massive content of yet-to-be-announced GTA 6. This was the biggest leak not only in GTA’s history but also in the gaming industry’s history. Lapsus$, a hacking group, is behind it all.
On the evening of Thursday 22 September 2022, the City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the @NCA_UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).

Gizchina News of the week
One of the Lapsus$ hacking group leaders is in jail
In March 2022, the hacker group Lapsus$ stole NVIDIA’s 1TB data. After, it put forward a requirement that GPU drivers for Windows, macOS, and Linux systems must become fully open source before the end of March 4. If not, they menaced to make confidential public.
In the same month, Lapsus$ attacked Samsung (again). The hacking group released 190GB of partial source code information stolen from Samsung servers.
Generally, March was very productive for Lapsus$. Apart from the mentioned hacks, Microsoft also confirmed that this hacking group had gained limited access to the company’s systems. Previously, Lapsus$ claimed to have successfully hacked into Microsoft’s systems and obtained source code for Bing and Cortana voice assistants.
At the same time, Apple Insider reported that the Apple Health source code used to develop the Globant “Earn Your Apple Watch” project might have been stolen. Lapsus$ was behind this.
Before this, Uber has said it was in contact with the FBI and the US Department of Justice. Though Rockstar hasn’t issued a similar statement, there is every reason to think it was cooperating with the FBI as well.
As a reminder, the GTA 6 will hit the stores in two years. Thus, this teenager could reveal many secrets ahead of the launch.
