Remember remember the 5th of November, the day the WCDMA Xiaomi Hongmi will finally be listed!
Xiaomi’s Co-founder and CEO has been on Weibo again speaking about the China Unicom WCDMA version of the Xiaomi Hongmi. This time rather than vaguely stating that ‘Yes, it is coming’, Lei Jun has actually announced the launch date as 5th November!
Gizchina News of the week
So what does this mean to those outside China? Previously launched Xiaomi Hongmi phones only support China Mobiles 3G network making them pretty useless outside of China, but the WCDMA version will work on most European 3G networks!
The rest of the hardware remains the same so for 799 Yuan Chinese customers will get a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1GB RAM, 1.5Ghz Quad-core MT6589T processor, 8 mega-pixel Samsung camera and MIUI V5. Customers outside China can expect to pay more than Chinese customers and demand is going to be high!

It would be ok for Europe if comes with 900mhz!
That would be great. But previous Xiaomi phones support only HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
I’m good with hongmi but i can’t seem to stop salivating over the snapdragon mi3. Do you have any idea when it’ll release?
Tia andy
My sources are saying it still isn’t in production due to delays at Qualcomm
Hi Andi
Xiaomi Hongmi 2 is it really coming???
I just ordered WCDMA Hongmi and now latest 8 core phone is coming…
Can u confirm whether the MT6592 will come with 4G LTE (specially Band 3- 1900 Mhz and Band 7- 2600 Mhz)
I wouldn’t worry about it, even if they launched it next month (and it is just a rumour) there probably won’t be enough to cover supply until later next year.
Where to buy that model best? is there possibility to buy it in official site of xiaomi with transport to Europe or I should look for it in aliexpre** what supplier has good quality and price shop?
You will have to buy it through a trusted reseller or Alliexpress store
i hope that this version bring this networks like the MI, MI2 and M3, for buying
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
fingers crossed -_-

Accessing your expertise here Andi. Will be in Beijing for 3 days from 6th-9th Nov. Any realistic chance of getting the phone instore (Xiaomi stores?) or will the Xiaomi craze mean that everything will be sold out in minutes? Will look into the cutprice Umi X2 as an alternative (https://www.gizchina.com/2013/10/23/umi-x2-price-cut/) Cheers Jian
I don’t think there will be much chance of getting the Hongmi, but you might be able to get a UMi. Not sure where they are sold in Beijing though, you might have to head to a ‘phone city’
Ahh just what I feared, might settle for Lenovo S750 then as good value rugged phone for adventure travelling purpose (will be on the road most of next year), makes sense?
