Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi, is a long-standing leader in the Indian smartphone market. However, it recently lost some ground and Samsung took the No. 1 spot in the Indian smartphone market. A recent report from Canalys reveals that Xiaomi now ranks first in the Indian smartphone market. The company ranks first for the third quarter of 2022. The Chinese manufacturer shipped 9.2 million units in Q3 with a 21% market share.
In addition to Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, and OPPO rank second, third and fourth respectively. These brands shipped 8.1 million units (18%), 7.3 million units (16%), and 7.1 million units (16%), respectively. However, Realme fell to fifth with only 6.2 million units (14%) of shipment. India’s smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2022 were 44.6 million units. This is a 6% decrease relative to the previous year. The reason for the decline is the lack of success in the low-end market.

However, Samsung couldn’t retain the No. 1 position in 2021. Last year, Xiaomi regained its lead.
