Over the past few weeks, there have been several reports regarding the iPhone 15 series. This series is so popular because it will come with a lot of “new” features and designs. According to recent reports, the next-gen iPhone will have a much better camera sensor. The rumour alleges that Sony is working on a new and very powerful camera sensor for the iPhone 15. According to Nikkei Asia, Sony now has a new camera sensor that can capture more light than before. Many thanks to the change in relevant design architecture. As a result, this new sensor could deliver solid results, especially in poor light conditions.

The new camera sensor, which is being developed by Sony Semiconductor Solutions, will be manufactured in a Japanese plant. This sensor will then be shipped to Apple and other mobile phone brands. The report also claims that Sony made some changes in the design of the new CMOS chip.
Gizchina News of the week
Separate substrate levels for photodiodes and transistors
The chip’s architecture has been modified so that the photodiodes and the sensor’s transistors are located on different levels of the substrate. As a result, the transistors do not take up any space on the upper level of the sensor. Thus, there is much more space to increase the number of photodiodes.
The Nikkei Asia report did not reveal if Apple will be the first mobile phone brand to install the new Sony sensor in its devices. The new sensor will likely first launch on an Android device. A lot of Android mobile phones will arrive before the iPhone 15 launch in Sept. next year. However, we expect Apple’s software optimization to be top-notch as it has been in recent times.
As of now, we can’t tell if all models in the iPhone 15 series will use the new CMOS chip. We know that Apple only uses new top tech in the top versions. There are still no details on what the sensor will offer. We only know that it will be much better than what we have at the moment.
