DxOMark tested the front camera of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. The final test result is 145 points, the same score as the iPhone 14 Pro. Both mobile phones are now joint first on the DxOMark front camera ranking. For the rear camera, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro scores 149 points while the iPhone 14 Pro lags behind with 146 points even behind mobile phones like Honor Magic4 Ultimate and Google Pixel 7 Pro. It is important to note that both the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max use the same front and rear camera. Thus, the Pro Max version of the iPhone 14 is not any better than the Pro version.
Huawei Mate 50 Pro camera
The Huawei Mate 50 Pro comes with a 13MP front lens with an aperture of f/2.4 aperture. To support this front camera, the company adds a 3D deep sensing camera. This front sensor supports 4K video recording. At the moment, not many front cameras in the mobile phone industry support 4K videos. Except for the fixed-focus front camera, most of the image specs of the Mate 50 Pro are the same as the Huawei P50 Pro. However, due to the new software solution and fine tuning, the image strength of the Mate 50 Pro is stronger than that of the P50 Pro.
For video, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro can record at 4K resolution at 30 frames per second with the Vivid HDR mode enabled. The Mate 50 Pro scored top in several DXO test categories, including Exposure, Focus, Noise, and Flash.

After testing, Huawei Mate 50 Pro ranks first in the DxOMark global image ranking with a total score of 149 points. However, during the testing process, DxOMark as usual identified some Pros and Cons with the rear camera of the Mate 50 Pro.
