Rumours of the Xiaomi Hongmi 2 report that we could see it before the end of the year with an 8-core MT6592 processor.
With the amazing success of the Hongmi, Xiaomi would be crazy not to be planning a follow-up model. Launched in August of this year as a TD-SCDMA only phone and last week finally in WCDMA guise, the Hongmi has become the phone to have for cash strapped technology fans.
Gizchina News of the week
The current version of the Hongmi is impressive as it stands with a 4.7-inch display, quad-core CPU and 8 mega-pixel rear camera, however if rumours can be believed the 2nd generation model might be even better with an increase in screen size to 5.5-inch and an 8-core processor!
Reports go on to say that Xiaomi had planned to launch the Xiaomi Hongmi 2 (if the phone exists) by the end of November, but due to delays have had to but the launch off until December!
Would an 8-core Xiaomi Hongmi be an interesting prospect for you?
Meh,sounds like fan hype like the smartwatch.
Not with a 5.5 inch screen, anything over 5 inch is just too much.
But I simply love larger than 5 inch phones. Have you ever used one for a few days? It’s like a drug.
I’ve seen one, held it in my hands but I don’t want one, I’m sure of it.
A 5inch one is good enough, if I ever want more I have a 7inch tablet.
There are of course people that do like larger phones but many don’t want large ones.
Chinese users watching TV shows everywhere in buses or subway would disagree with you and this phone is made for Chinese users.
Btw. Gizchina finally normal comments system…
Whats the point to moving to v2 of a phone when the manufacture have not met the demand of v1 yet. Once the market is saturated with v1, they should think of v2.
$$$ ?
first of all a lot of users in america contries we’re disapointed with the release of the xiaomi hongmi “internacional version WCDMA ” we waited for nothing really was a “european version WCDMA” and the networks don’t work in many america contries -_- cuz in a lot contries we use the 3g network 850, i hope one day xiaomi realese Xiaomi Hongmi with america WCDMA -_-
prospect for Xiaomi Hongmi 2
-a real international networks
-a screen between 4.7 and 5 inches cuz 5.5 is too big if we need a larger screen we can buy a tablet XD, why the manufacturers show the 8 cores on big phones, the 8 cores look nice on small smartphones too,
-big battery 3000 mAh onwards
5.5″ FHD 3000mah (replaceable) $220 🙂
i’m expecting, later on, there will be rumor xiaomi will release 8.3″ FHD tegra5 tablet with monstrous battery and call n sms enabled…
I think you mean 80.3″, and Tegra 7 at a cost of just $100 😉
Does any one know if MT6592 does support LTE.
In specific Band 3 ( 1900Mhz) and Band 7 ( 2600Mhz) which can be used in Singapore.
The one which will be launched by Mediatek on Nov 19… Does all octa core phones support it.
Thanks!
Shriekanth.
The version of the MT6592 that is going to be launched this month wont support LTE. LTE is for mid next year, at least that’s what I’ve been hearing.
