Recently, Netflix did a test run in Latin America, introducing new password-sharing restrictions. Well, after the successful test run, the streaming giant has enforced the rules at full fledge in Canada and three other countries. That includes Spain, New Zealand, and Portugal.
Starting today, you will be forced to abide by the new Netflix password-sharing rule if you live in one of those regions mentioned. That is, you will not be able to share your password with people who are not in the same household as you. And if you do, you have to pay extra fees.
Netflix Password Crackdown Introduces New Pricing
So, you might be wondering how much extra you would have to pay if you were to share a password, right? Well, if you are sharing your Netflix password with someone who doesn’t live with you, you will need to pay an additional CAD $7.99 a month per person in Canada.
On the other hand, it would be NZD $7.99 per person if you are in New Zealand. And for Portugal, it is €3.99, while it is €5.99 in Spain. But that is not all that the crackdown is about.

Even if you have the money to pay, you can not add more than two sub-accounts. And all the sub-accounts will have their own profile, login ID, and password. They will even get personalized recommendations. Basically, Netflix password sharing will no longer be a thing.
Other Netflix password-sharing rules will also be applicable. All the members will need to set up their homes as primary locations. Netflix subscribers must log into their app through their home network at least once every 31 days. Otherwise, the account access will be blocked.
With the Canada rollout, the US seems to be next in line for the Netflix crackdown. And soon after the US, the streaming giant will enforce these new rules in other regions.
