Meizu is back in refreshed mood after being acquired by the Chinese Geely. The brand is set to fight among the big ones in the flagship territory with its upcoming Meizu 20 series. The teasers for the new device have been appearing in a timely manner. Today, the brand has just confirmed that the upcoming flagship will use the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC for flagship devices – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. That may not be a big surprise, but still, it’s good to see a confirmation coming at this point. Also, to make it competitive against the recent releases, the phone also comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
Gizchina News of the week
Meizu 20 Pro design confirmed
As per the leaks, the brand will introduce a Meizu 20 and a Meizu 20 Pro. The latter appeared in a leaked shot back in the last week. The image revealed a device with a unique look for the rear camera – the smiling face. In fact, Meizu is very good at debuting phones with unique designs. It may not be the hottest brand of recent times, but so far, its phone designs have been good. However, there is a twist! Digital Chat Station just revealed a new render with the final design for the Meizu 20 Pro, and it has nothing to do with the previous leak.
The Meizu 20 also has power and volume buttons on the right-hand side. The leak shows a triple-camera array with an LED flash. Unlike the previous design, this one here is rather generic. We have a horizontally-aligned camera setup with three cameras and an LED flash. The Meizu 20 Pro also has power and volume buttons on the right side. There is a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. We assume that the phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner, so it’s an OLED screen. Presumably with a high refresh rate of 120Hz.
We still need to wait for a confirmation, but the leaks so far, have been pointing to a launch in March. Meizu will likely keep teasing the Meizu 20 series ahead of the launch.
