The life of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series will not be easy as it used to be. Today, a new competitor is joining the global segment, in a bid to conquer its space in the growing foldable category. Oppo, as expected, launched the Oppo Find N2 Flip. The device comes to convince users that it is a better alternative to regular smartphones, and also better than Samsung offerings. The phone has a reasonable price for a foldable. It starts at £849 in the UK and some EU countries will see the price fall to €999 due to an early bird offer. Remember when foldables used to cost more than $2000?
The Oppo Find N2 will compete against the likes of Galaxy Z Flip4, Motorola RAZR 2022, and Huawei P50 Pocket. As you can see, the flip-foldable segment is the most diverse across global markets. As for the tablet-like foldable, Samsung still fights alone.
Is it better than the Galaxy Z Flip?
The Oppo Find N2 comes with a 6.8-inch OLED inner display with Full HD+ resolution, the cover display has 3.23-inch and serves as a viewfinder and notifications. Worth noting that both displays are bigger than the ones on the Galaxy Z Flip. The battery is also bigger than Samsung’s offering. Oppo managed to equip this device with a 4,300 mAh. That may not sound much when we look at regular smartphones. However, that’s an impressive feat for a device that folds like a classic clamshell phone. It’s not easy to fill big batteries in this design, so Oppo made good progress. To make things even more interesting, there’s 44W charging for the device.
Gizchina News of the week
Oppo is convinced that the Oppo Find N2 stands as a better offering than the Galaxy Z Flip4. The company is proud of the work made in the phone to deliver a less protuberant crease. We have to say that the phone has a gorgeous design and seems like the right direction for this design.
Oppo Find N2 Flip – the biggest difference is on the CPU
When it comes to the specs, we have something that will split enthusiasts. While the Galaxy Z Flip4 and the RAZR 2022 bring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Oppo has the alternative. The Oppo Find N2 Flip packs the Dimensity 9000+ CPU. This is one of the rare cases when MediaTek’s 2022 flagship SoC escaped China. There is still a preference for Qualcomm chips in the flagship segment. So we are curious to see if consumers will give a chance to this CPU. Worth noting, that at least on paper, both CPUs have similar specifications.
The Oppo Find N2 Flip comes with 8GB/12GB/16 GB of RAM, and 256GB/512GB of Internal Storage. The device also runs Oppo’s ColorOS 13 on top of Android 13. It packs a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 32 MP selfie shooter with Auto-Focus. Worth noting that it’s perfectly possible to use the main camera setup to capture selfies. The outer display will serve as a viewfinder in that case.
The Oppo Find N2 remains exclusive to the Chinese market. However, some reports indicate it can appear in global markets – sort of – as OnePlus V Fold.
