The app has been in the news in recent weeks due to new features being added almost every day. Today, the Meta owned messaging app has added yet another feature that will enhance multitasking when using the app.

WhatsApp has officially released a stable update for iOS users and the update is currently available to download from the App Store.

The new WhatsApp Update comes with an exclusive multitasking feature for iOS devices. WhatsApp has rolled out a feature called picture-in-picture mode for all iOS users around the globe. This feature becomes useful when a user is making a video call.

This feature has been in the works for some time now. WhatsApp released it for beta testers some few weeks ago. The feature is now out for the general public to use.

The official app version for this feature is 23.3.77 update. So, you can check from your version to see if it is up to date. If not, you can update it on Apple App Store.

On the App Store, you will realize that the changelog is also updated to describe the new features of the app. WhatsApp has mentioned in the changelog that you can Now use picture-in-picture mode when making a video call.

This feature allows users perform other tasks on their smartphones while having a WhatsApp video call. It does not matter if it is a single video call or conference call. You can still have extra hands to multitask, thanks to the picture-in-picture mode. WhatsApp for iOS

Initially, if you are on a WhatsApp video call and you move away from the App to perform any other task on your phone, the other party sees “Video Paused” on their screens. With this new update, that will be a thing of the past.

How to Enable the Picture-in-Picture Mode

This feature does not require any change of settings to enable it, it should work automatically. If it does not work in your WhatsApp, it means you have not updated your app yet. You may have to check from the App Store for update.
