Back in the last week, the first CAD renders showing the design of the iPhone 15 Pro emerged. The iPhone 14 series may sound fresh to some, but we already know that the iPhone 15 series is in development, and probably will be stealing headlines until September. The iPhone 15 Pro stole attention with subtle design changes and an all-new USB Type-C port. Now, it’s time for the vanilla iPhone 15 to get the same “exposed” treatment – courtesy of 9to5Mac. After six years, we will finally get to say goodbye to the notch!

The iPhone 15 and Plus will embrace the Dynamic Island

The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus were not the most inspiring phones in the lineup. The Pro series brought the new Dynamic Island – which is basically a “floating” notch above a punch-hole camera and Face ID sensor. However, the vanilla and Plus phones decided to go with the same design that comes with the iPhone X in 2017. The notch got a small refresh with the iPhone 13 series and got smaller. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus look like revamped iPhone 13 models. But now, that will gonna change.

Gizchina News of the week

iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 15 and Plus will embrace the Dynamic Islan Pill-shaped cutout. We don’t know if this is a definitive goodbye for the notch, after all, it can return with the iPhone SE 4, whenever it comes. But for the main iPhone lineup, it’s time to get used to the new design – we’ll probably see it for the next few years. Besides Dynamic Island, the new vanilla and Plus will also bring the USB Type-C port. It’s no secret that Apple is planning a switch to the USB Type-C port this year. The company wants to be ready for the imminent rules in the EU that will require a “universal” port. The mute switch and volume button will still sit at the left of the phone’s frame.

Unlike some reports, the iPhone 15 and Plus will get physical buttons and not capacitive ones. Sounds good for repairability, after all, capacitive sensors on the side will likely cost more. Last but not least, the renders confirm a dual-camera setup with the same design for the island.
