iPhone 16 Pro Has All Chances To Use Under-screen Face ID

under-screen Face ID

The Elec claims that Apple hasn’t given up and plans to introduce under-screen Face ID technology next year. The latter will allow the iPhone 16 Pro screen to have no holes or openings. Thus, the yet-to-come iPhone Pro models will be full-screen smartphones.

Under-screen Face Id Is On The Way

Last year, Ross Young said that Apple would adopt under-screen Face ID on the iPhone 16 Pro model in 2024. Then, in 2026, it will introduce the under-screen Face ID and the under-screen front camera on the iPhone 18 Pro model.

So it turns out that Apple knows how to get the light to pass through the display and reach the TrueDepth camera system. According to the source, the under-screen Face ID uses the same principle as the under-screen camera used by Samsung on the Galaxy Z Fold series. This makes the camera hole invisible when the camera app is not running. It should be noted, however, that this technology can be used on 4MP camera sensors.

Dynamic Island

In any case, if Apple decides to use under-screen Face ID on the iPhone 16 Pro, the trend should continue. So the Cupertino brand should use under-display Face ID on the non-Pro iPhone range in 2025 and UPC on the Pro iPhone range in 2026.

It’s logical that Apple would want to bring this innovation to the Pro models first. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro line was the first to use Dynamic Island. It helped the Pro models gain popularity. They also exclusively use the Apple A16 Bionic chip. These two features make them stand out and sell millions of units. In this context, we must remember that all the rumors claim that all four models of the iPhone 15 series will use Dynamic Island. However, the Pro models will be the only ones to use the new chips.
