The renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo comes yet with a new report about an upcoming Apple product. This time around, we don’t have new details about the iPhone SE 4, a new MacBook, or the legendary new Mac Pro. Instead, we have details for the next year’s Apple HomePod. As per the analyst, Apple will launch a new device for smart homes. One of the biggest updates will be the addition of a new 7-inch display panel. That represents a major shift in Apple’s strategy.
With a bigger display, there are more possibilities for the device. After all, it will likely boost the capabilities of the Apple HomePod. It can get extra features, and it will be easier for users to interact with a larger panel. Apple may even conquer more consumers in this category with a device that looks more attractive. There is a big catch, however, one thing that old-school Xiaomi fans will fear.
Gizchina News of the week
Apple HomePod with a 7-inch display from Tianma, FaceTime support, and a smart speaker
According to the report, Tianma Microelectronics is the exclusive supplier of these displays. This name is not strange for old-school Redmi smartphone fans. Xiaomi used to take a lot of LCD displays from Tiamna for the Redmi Note series. These displays were not the best in terms of quality and were known for their screen retention issues. Of course, this was years ago. Tianma has improved its quality in recent years. So the past with Redmi Note phones does not mean that the upcoming Apple HomePod will get the same kind of quality. We all know that Apple is way more exigent, and the device will be anything but a low-end device. Kuo also mentions that Tianma will receive display orders for Apple iPad in the future. That is huge!
Back in the last year, rumors have been suggesting that the new Apple HomePod would come with tvOS. The device may get FaceTime capabilities via a built-in camera. Considering the larger display, it makes sense for Apple to add a camera and allow users to make FaceTime calls straight from it. Last but not least, the new Apple HomePod will also operate as a smart speaker.
There is still a long path to go until the Apple HomePod becomes official. It is rumored for 2024, so we still have several months to go through. As usual, more rumors will likely pop out along the way.
