Huawei TalkBand B7

On March 23, Huawei revealed that it is still pretty alive and kicking in the mobile business. The giant that had some of its glory stolen by the US ban now tries its best to keep competitive in a market flooded with good offerings. Well, Huawei proved itself by launching the new Huawei P60 series of flagships with cutting-edge cameras, and a new foldable smartphone dubbed Huawei Mate X3. The brand also introduces a couple of wearables devices. Among them, we saw the Huawei TalkBand B7 keep a strong presence in the segment of smart bands. Can the Mi Band series withstand this? Let’s find out.

Huawei TalkBand B7 features and specs

The Huawei TalkBand B7, in terms of design, will stay loyal to its legacy. The device did not steal attention during the Huawei keynote but is definitively coming as a hot offering for enthusiasts in the segment. It serves as a follow-up to the TalkBand B6 smartband and Bluetooth earpiece 2-in-1. It brings the same design with some changes in the hardware.

In terms of design, we have to say that Huawei keeps its fancy approach in the segment. Rather than modest displays with limited functionality, we have a gorgeous 1.53-inch AMOLED screen. It has a 326 ppi pixel density with 188 x 460 pixels of resolution. The Huawei TalkBand B7 packs a stainless steel casing. Under the hood, the watch packs the Kirin A1 CPU and comes with Bluetooth 5.2. Perhaps, one of the biggest changes is the improved call noise reduction. Thanks to a new algorithm, Huawei promises a better experience with better voice pickup thanks to 2 microphones.

The Huawei TalkBand B7 can also read your heart rate and blood oxygen levels and provide you with sports tracking for up to 10 activities. The wearable can last up to two days with mixed usage and supports fast charging. A 10-minute charge can provide 4 hours of extra use. You can charge the wearable via a USB Type-C cable. The wearable also boasts an IP57 rating for water and dust.

The wearable comes in Luminous Black and Sky Gray color options. The price of the watch is CNY 999 ($145). The wearable is already on open sale in China. We expect this smart band to reach global markets, but the company is yet to disclose details.

In China, the Huawei TalkBand B7 will face tough competition. After all, there are dozens of devices of this kind. Anyway, we assume it’s easier for a Huawei smart band to compete than it is for a Huawei smartphone nowadays.
