PS5 Slim / PS5 Pro could arrive in June during PlayStation Showcase

Rumors keep popping out regarding the launch of new PS5 models. As per these rumors, Sony is gearing up to introduce the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro very soon. Apparently, the Slim variant could come a little sooner than the Pro variant. It will miss significant performance upgrades but will bring a new modular design with a removable disc driver. Yeah, it seems that the so-called PS5 with external disc driver, set to replace the existing models, could be launched as the PS5 Slim. More evidence about the launch of this new model surfaced a few days ago. Now, it seems that Sony is preparing a new event that can serve as a stage for these models.

PlayStation Showcase coming in June

According to the reputed journalist Jeff Grubb, Sony is planning a PlayStation Showcase for June. Right now, this event doesn’t have a specific date, however it will take place before the Summer Game Fest which starts on June 8. Sony was actually planning an event for the “E3 2023” season. The company would not attend the event, as it left E3 years ago, but still, it would use that period to showcase the “next phase of the PS5”. Now, E3 2023 is dead and, to be honest, I believe that there is no turnback for this fair, but Summer Game Fest will play the role and Sony will be ready for it.

PlayStation Showcase

Jeff Grubb makes it clear that Sony will use its next PlayStation Showcase to disclose details about “the next phase of the PS5”. This could mean a lot of things, but a big event amidst multiple rumors about a new PS5 model seems like the perfect stage for its launch. Of course, we also expect news regarding future PS5 games. In the past two years, Sony launched multiple games, and right now we only know that Spiderman 2, Wolverine, and Death Stranding 2 are coming for the platform.

Gizchina News of the week

Why does this sound like the perfect timing for the launch of a PS5 Slim or a PS5 Pro?

Almost three years ago, Sony held a PlayStation Showcase where it confirmed the design and arrival of the PlayStation 5. Since then, we did not have an event of this nature. The PlayStation Showcase, nowadays figures as the biggest event for PlayStation fans. When the company wants to show only games, it goes for the usual State of Play. Considering the importance of a Showcase, we have good expectations for a PlayStation Showcase happening in June this year.

PS5

While there is no concrete info regarding a PS5 Pro, it seems that a PS5 Slim is about to be revealed. It’s pretty common for Sony to launch Slim models of every PlayStation generation. The PS5 is a Behemoth that easily takes your room space by force. This is probably the PlayStation that mostly needs a Slim version.

Since the last year, we have been seeing rumors about a new PS5 model. Sony faced multiple challenges to ensure the stocks of the PS5. Ultimately, the company found a neat solution to improve things. It aims to launch a modular PS5 that could be sold in both Digital and Physical editions. This particular model would replace the existing models, just like other Slim versions did in the past. Recent rumors have been pointing out that the new PS5 model could pretty much launch as the PS5 Slim that we have been waiting for.

PS5 Slim

A new phase for the PS5 is set to start

The upcoming event will kickstart a “new phase” for the PS5. Hence, we have strong reasons to believe in the new model’s launch. This also falls in line with other leaks. Most of them have been suggesting a revelation in the mid of 2023. The actual availability would start a few months later. You may not agree with the launch of a PS5 Pro model right now. However, there is nothing wrong with having a Slim version. Especially when it promises to improve the stocks.

We will keep following these rumors with attention. Of course, more leaks will appear ahead of a new event. For more gaming-related news, feel free to check Mobigaming.com! Our brother’s website focused on gaming news and everything behind this amazing industry.

As long as it’s cheaper. Aiming for at most $450 to purchase (with disc reader).
