Samsung Exynos 2400 GPU Might Easily Take On the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Samsung Exynos

We have had leaks regarding the Exynos 2400 before. However, most of them gave us a vague idea of how powerful the SoC will be. Well, a new leak about the SoC has just emerged. According to it, the GPU of the new Samsung-made chipset will be a beast!

To be specific, the GPU of the Exynos 2400 chipset is said to come with more compute cores than the Exynos 2200. And in case you were wondering, the Exynos 2300 is likely to be a Pixel 8-exclusive chipset. That chipset is also said to come with major upgrades. But the Exynos 2300 SoC might not end up in the flagship phones of Samsung.

Exynos 2400 to Come with Four Times More Compute Units Than Exynos 2200

So, the Exynos 2200 was the first Samsung SoC to deploy an AMD RDNA2-based GPU. Named Xclipse 920, the GPU had three computing units. And in case you missed it, it performed exceptionally well in graphics tests. It even beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in one test.

Well, according to the new rumor, the Exynos 2400 will employ the same RNDA2 architecture. But it will feature 6WGP. Here, WGP stands for Workgroup Processor. And one WGP consists of two compute units, which translates to a total of 12 compute units on the GPU of the new chipset.

Eventually, the higher compute unit count will give the Exynos 2400 GPU better performance than the Xclipse 920 in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. And as per recent rumors, Samsung might use the new Exynos chipset for the Galaxy S24 series. If that is actually true, Samsung definitely has big plans with the chipset.

In fact, Samsung might tune the SoC to the level where it might go head-to-head with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Hopefully, we will get more details about the chipset in the coming days.
