Unveiled: Vivo X Fold 2 – The World’s Most Advanced Folding Screen Mobile Phone


If you’ve ever used a foldable smartphone, you’ve been obsessed. As a result, the market is growing fast. The VIVO X Fold 2 is a new foldable smartphone from one of China’s top smartphone manufacturers. The phone is now available for pre-order and will start shipping on 28 April.

The device comes in three colors: Red, Blue, and Black. The plain leather version is 13.2mm thick when folded and 6.67mm when unfolded and weighs 278g, while the glass version is 12.9mm thick when folded and 6.4mm when unfolded.

Screens and Performance

The machine is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile processing platform. By the way, this phone has extra security features compared to the regular version. Also, it is supplemented by LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 flash storage. In terms of heat dissipation, the phone adopts an ultra-wide-area intelligent heat dissipation system, which boasts a 2558mm² VC soaking plate + nano heat conduction gel. In effect, this phone scored over 1.34 million on AnTuTu.

Well, we are talking about a foldable handset. So it’s logical that the selling point of it is the screen. As for the VIVO X Fold 2, it uses an 8.03-inch 2160×1916 resolution AMOLED inner screen. The latter also supports a 120Hz refresh rate (LTPO 4.0). The rest of the display parameters include a Samsung E6 phosphor material, an 1800-nit peak brightness, a SCHOTT UTG glass cover, superconducting anti-reflective coating, and many more. The phone supports multi-angle hovering, 3D ultrasonic screen fingerprint, and has passed SGS low blue light eye protection certification.

The external screen is 6.53 inches. It has a 2560×1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and uses Samsung E6 luminescent material. This display supports 3D ultrasonic screen fingerprint too.

Other Specs

Another key feature of any folding screen handset is the hinge. This time the VIVO X Fold 2 uses a self-developed aviation-grade water drop hinge. It is made of FS54 aviation-grade steel + carbon fiber + IPC plate. It has passed Rheinland’s 400,000-fold certification and can hover at 60-120 degrees.

On the outer screen, we can find a 16MP camera lens. The phone sports a 50MP main camera, which adopts the VCS bionic spectrum technology developed by VIVO and Sony. The latter reduces noise by 20%, and increases color reproduction ability by 15%. The other two sensors have 12MP resolution. One of them is an anti-distortion ultra-wide-angle lens, while the other is a portrait lens.

There is also a self-developed V2 imaging chip. When taking photos at nighttime, the brightness is significantly increased. Moreover, when shooting against the light, the highlights are not exposed, and the dark parts have clear details.

VIVO X Fold 2

The VIVO X Fold 2 is the world’s first smartphone to offer both 120W cable charging and 50W wireless charging, as well as a massive 4800mAh battery. The latter may be fully charged in 26 minutes. However, charging it wirelessly will take 50 minutes. Furthermore, the phone enables 10W wireless reverse charging.

The phone has an X-axis linear motor, stereo twin speakers, three microphones, an infrared remote control, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, wireless lossless Hi-Fi, a dedicated mute button, and the OriginOS 3 operating system pre-installed.
