Alleged Honor Play 40 spotted by China’s certification with 5,100mAh battery

Honor Play 40

Honor seems to be on a roll with the release of multiple devices. A few days ago, the brand introduced the Honor Pad V8 in China to join the existing V40 Pro. Now, it seems to be preparing for a new contender for the Honor Play series. A mysterious device with model number WDY-AN00 appeared on the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Although there is no ID photo, the first leaks point to it as the Honor Play 40.

Honor Play 40 leaks in the wild

Judging by the first details, the Honor Play 40 will pack a 2.2 GHz Octa-Core processor. It won’t bring any kind of memory expansion, aka a microSD card slot, and has a 5,100 mAh battery. Unfortunately, the device seems to be aiming at the low-end segment. After all, it has just 10W charging. If we go by today’s standards, this probably is a very low-end smartphone. In fact, the remaining specifications help us to confirm this fact.

The alleged Honor Play 40 will also bring a 6.56-inch LCD screen with a 1,612 x 720 resolution. In other words, it’s an HD+ display. It brings a dual-camera system at the rear with a 13 MP primary shooter and a secondary 2 MP lens. Up to the front, there is a 5 MP camera. Right now we don’t if it will be a punch-hole or a notched camera. The device will bring a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and will have a thickness of about 8.35 mm, and a weight of about 188 grams. The phone will sell in plenty of options with 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, and 12 GB of RAM. In terms of storage, there will be 64GB, 128GB, and 256 GB of Internal Storage.

Honor Play 40

The Honor Play 40 boasts an HW-050200C02 charger. This particular charger has not been used by mobile phones for a long time. We can easily imagine why, there are fewer and fewer phones coming with just 10W charging. Most of the Honor phones have above 10W charging nowadays. We don’t know why Honor has chosen that one, perhaps because it aims at a low price tag.

Right now, there is no forecast for the launch of the new Honor device. But we expect to hear more about it in the next weeks.
