Google Messages is introducing a new feature called “Magic Compose”, which uses AI to generate message responses. This feature is not limited to simple text messages, as it can also create poetic replies. Here’s a sneak peek at what the new Google AI tool will offer.
So, what is Magic Compose?
For several years, Google Messages has attempted to assist users in composing text messages using its Smart Reply feature. However, this feature does not always produce satisfactory results. To improve the usefulness of automated responses, Google has been exploring the integration of Bard into its messaging app.
According to reports by 9to5Google, AI-generated responses will soon make their way to Google Messages through a tool called Magic Compose. With this AI tool, Google Messages will offer a variety of replies to text messages in various tones.
The feature is activated by tapping a sparkled pencil icon in the text field. Tapping that pencil will allow you to choose the tone of your message. You will have options such as formal, exciting, and lyrical to choose from. Lyrical sounds like a perfect way to annoy your friends with a song 😊.

The screenshots also show that this feature will also help you compose a message if you can’t find the right words for your messages. It’s worth noting that these replies are based on the context of your conversation. Google also points out that, unlike Smart Reply, which runs on your phone, Magic Compose will require an internet connection.
Settings & Requirements
You’ll find the Magic Compose feature on the same settings page you find the Smart Reply feature. As mentioned earlier, you’ll need an internet connection to use the feature. At the bottom of the page, Google notes, “Magic Compose suggestions vary by conversation and are generated on Google’s servers. Carrier charges apply. Other suggestions are generated on the device.”
Also, Compose will only work with the Google Message app.
When will Magic Compose be available?
Based on the apparent level of advancement of Magic Compose, the feature will likely be available to the public soon. If you’d want to get the Magic Compose feature soon, we suggest you enroll for beta testing from the Play Store.
Conclusion
