There is a new OnePlus flagship coming with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Unlike the past three years, OnePlus decided to start 2023 with just one flagship device – the OnePlus 11. The device arrived to be the company’s sole flagship, replacing the Pro variant. The phone was among the first devices to pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but apparently, won’t be the only one for much longer. We don’t know if there is a new OnePlus 11 series flagship in the pipeline, but there is one OnePlus Ace 2 Pro coming very soon with the 2023’s flagship chipset.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro coming with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

To recall, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Ace 2 in February with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The device acted as a cost-effective flagship. It was followed by a Ace 2V variant with the Dimensity 9000. Now, it seems that we are about to see the launch of a Ace 2 Pro model with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset at the helm. The info comes straight from the tipster Digital Chat Station. Besides the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, he also points to the use of a 1.5K curved screen. The resolution would sit below the QHD+ panel on the OnePlus 11. So we don’t think this will be rebadged to a OnePlus 11 Pro or OnePlus 11T in the near future.

Digital Chat Station states that this panel “seems to have something new” and is being tested by BOE. Could it be a new tech for the fingerprint scanner? Under-screen camera? We don’t know yet. We expect more leaks to pop out in the coming months, as there is still no forecast for the launch of such a device. In any case, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro will stay exclusive to the Chinese market but should get a global rebranding a few months after its release.

The OnePlus Ace 2V, for example, is expected to launch soon in some markets as OnePlus Nord 3. The OnePlus Ace 2 is the OnePlus 11R available in China. Thus, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro will hit global markets as something between the Reno and the 11 series.
