Amazon has launched its newest pair of true wireless earbuds in the Echo Buds lineup. The series already consists of two previous models, which also share the same name, but are distinguished by their launch year or generation. Therefore, the new Echo Buds can be referred to as the Amazon Echo Buds 3rd Gen or the 2023 model.
Interestingly, the new Echo Buds have an incredibly low price of $40 (at least during the pre-order period). It is significantly lower than the previous two models. For example, the second-generation Echo Buds cost $119.99. As a result, Amazon has surely made some compromises in order to bring the price down.
Specifications and Features
The new Amazon Echo Buds have 12mm drivers that deliver “crisp audio, balanced bass, and full sound.” They also have a pair of onboard microphones and a voice detection accelerometer that Amazon says will provide “crystal clear communication” during calls.
The Echo Buds can be used with both iOS and Android devices, and they support access to both Siri and Google Assistant. They also have a multipoint pairing feature that allows you to connect them to two devices at the same time and switch between them seamlessly.
Gizchina News of the week
The Echo Buds have a battery life of up to 5 hours of music playback on a single charge. With the charging case, you can get up to 20 hours of total listening time. You can also get an additional 2 hours of playback time with a 15-minute quick charge.
Design
Moreover, the buds are sweat-resistant and have a semi-in-ear design. They come with pre-installed silicone ear tips, and you can also customize the tap controls to control music, phone calls, and more. However, unlike the second-gen Echo Buds, these do not feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Amazon is still providing support for its voice assistant Alexa which will let you make calls, set reminders, and play podcasts just with a voice command.
The design of the new Amazon Echo Buds is quite plain. There is no visible branding or the case. This may be a way for Amazon to cut costs, but it is understandable given the low price of the earbuds. At $40 or $50, the Echo Buds offer a lot of features for the price.
