Android 14 features are going strong! Recently, we already got to know two exciting features that Google will likely have on the final build. One is the ability to drag and drop texts and files, while the other is simultaneous app launch in split-screen. Now, information about one of the privacy-focused features has come to light.
Mishaal Rahman, who specializes in Android OS coverage, has hands-on experience with the full demo of Android 14. And he found out that Google has revamped the screen recording feature of the OS. It will be more focused on your privacy and hide personal data and incoming notifications.
Screen Recording on Android 14 Gets Much-Needed Upgrade
At the current stage, Android allows you to turn the sound off and hide touches. While these two options are handy, there’s no option to hide any sensitive information that may pop up while you are recording. Well, Android 14 improves on that. It will let you limit the screen capture to a single app and hide incoming notifications.
And here's the resulting partial screen recording. The video doesn't show the status bar or any notifications I got.

As Mishaal Rahman shows on his Twitter thread, there will be a new option on the screen recording app of Android 14. It will let you make the recording specific to a single app. When you tap the screen recorder, the new OS will basically show you a carousel of recently opened apps. The complete list of apps is also available.
But the interesting part is that the screen will turn black when you exit the specific app while recording. Android 14 will keep the recording screen black until you return to the app. So, none of the information on your home screen, texts, and other apps will get into the recording.
You can also tune the settings on Android 14 and record everything other than the incoming notifications. In fact, the whole status bar of the system can be hidden while recording!
