The year isn’t over yet, but Meizu’s Jack Wong is already leaking details of his companies next phone, the Meizu MX4G!
Answering a question to fan on the Meizu forums, Jack Wong spoke about the next generation Meizu phone. Named either the Meizu MX4G or simply the MX4, the ew phone will get a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1536 display and support for 4G LTE.
Gizchina News of the week
These specs are inline with what we expect from Vivo’s Xplay 3S and possibly the Oppo Find 7, however one question remains, “which processor will Meizu use?”. Till this date all Android Meizu phones have used Samsung processors, the introduction of 4G LTE may mean a move to Qualcomm chips!
We find the idea of a Qualcomm powered Meizu very exciting, how about you guy’s?
[ Meizu ]
Meizu has good build quality. and the 5.5″ 2560×1536 screen is enticing (although it’s more likely to be a JDI 5.4″ 2560×1440 screen).
But unless there’s a “stock” Android option, It’s not attractive for a non-China market.
If Meizu is wise enough to follow Oppo’s lead and offer an “official” CM11 option, and they include a muti-band LTE antenna, then it could be a winner internationally.
So everyone and his dog is making a phablet these days … Niceee, so for those of us who want a regular phone which can actually be fitted in our pockets we’re out of luck no?
I try to find a sub 5 inch flagship phone but it’s all in vain these days, after all it’s easier to construct larger screens, screw the consumer, who cares about him anyway, right?
Actually it’s all about NOT screwing the consumer, consumers have spoken with their wallets that they want bigger screen phones. That’s why the screen size has consistently gone up and up and up.
Don’t worry, Sony cares about you guys/gals too, we’ll probably see a worldwide Xperia Z1 f release in the Q1 2014. Till then, I suggest you try to get the SUPER cheap Jiayu G2f, jiayu store has it for a $100.
Consistently the phones that sell more are the smaller ones. iPhones sell more than any single phone brand out there. Galaxy S sells more than Gallaxy Note … and so on and so forth. The consumers chose, the phone-makers found it uneconomical (larger screens are cheaper to produce per inch) and ignored it. Now they push their worldview.
Eventually with only phablets in the market people would be forced to choose them and they would say “told you so”. It’s b/s it’s not as if human hands are getting bigger any time soon, and while I appreciate the fact that there are differing opinions, the current trend on mobiles shows exactly how little the consumer tastes matter.
Eventually phones will start getting smaller again, I guess I’ll have to wait out the crazy period that we’re in… In mid 2000s phones were getting uncomfortably small, in mid 2010s they will be uncomfortably large, eventually things will even out… I hope at least.
G2F is a mid-low end phone, Z1f is a big phone, MotoX with a quite larger screen is the same size. In fact Sony can’t make a small phone even if their lives were depended on it … at least not anymore.
Also, dogs can’t make phones. Just sayin.
I don’t understand why LTE “may mean a move to Qualcomm chips”.
Qualcomm make the best LTE solution at the moment, even Samsung uses Qualcomm processors in their LTE phones
The Exynos processor supports all bands of LTE and Meizu has always used Intel radios paired with Samsung processors. Don’t see why they would start from scratch with an entirely new platform.
MX4 – One year to go!
Probably waiting on Samsung,I doubt they’d leave them dry, they have good relations with each other.
