Android 14 update won’t become available for these Samsung Galaxy phones

Samsung is known for providing timely and longer-than-average updates for its Android smartphones. Even Google only promises three years of updates for its phones. But Samsung goes one step further with four years of platform upgrades. Add an extra year of security updates, Samsung’s mid-range and high-end phones technically get a total of five years of updates. But, no device lasts forever. Every device stops receiving OS updates at some time. So if you’re wondering if your Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet will get Android 14-based One UI 6.0, here’s a list of devices that won’t be updated.

Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets that will not get OneUI 6.0 (Android 14) Update

Android 13 will be the final major software update for the following Galaxy phones:

• Galaxy S10 Lite
• Galaxy S20 FE
• Galaxy S20 / Galaxy S20+ / Galaxy S20 Ultra
• Galaxy Note 10 Lite
• Galaxy Note 20 / Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
• Galaxy Z Flip (LTE/5G)
• Galaxy Z Fold 2
• Galaxy A22 (LTE/5G)
• Galaxy A32 (LTE/5G)
• Galaxy A51
• Galaxy A71

Alongside smartphones, there are a bunch of Galaxy-branded tablets that will not be getting the Android 14 update. The list includes:

• Galaxy Tab A8
• Galaxy Tab A7 Lite
• Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2020)
• Galaxy Tab S7 / Galaxy Tab S7+

These devices will continue to receive security updates for a while longer. But they will not receive Android 14 or One UI 6.0. If your device runs an older-than-Android 13 OS version and is not on this list, it will not receive Android 14 either.

Samsung has not yet announced when it will release its Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update. But based on the schedule for Android 13, we can expect the next major OS upgrade to roll out for select Galaxy phones and tablets before the end of 2023.

The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are likely to be the first devices to receive Android 14 and One UI 6.0. This will be followed by older S-series flagships.
