OnePlus Fold

OnePlus is gearing up to make its entrance into the foldable segment and the OnePlus Fold will be their first step into the category. Ahead of its release, a couple of 3D renders were created by @OnLeaks. These renders are based on all details available for the OnePlus Fold. They also provide information about the hardware, such as the chipset and cameras used in this new foldable device

OnePlus Fold – Design, Camera, and Other Specs

The new Oneplus Fold will boast a 7.8-inch Internal Display. It’s an AMOLED screen with 1,900 x 2,100 pixels and it’s of the LTPO kind. The cover display measures 6.3 inches and has a 120 Hz refresh rate. The cover display will also be an AMOLED panel but should skip the LTPO tech. What is the big deal about the LTPO tech? Well, it allows the panel to dynamically adjust its refresh rate based on what is being shown on the screen.

The OnePlus Fold will boast the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and will bring up to 16 GB of RAM with 512 GB of Internal Storage. The specs fall in line with that of the OnePlus 11 (The brand’s latest flagship). The foldable device will also include a 4,800 mAh battery with 67W fast charging. Both are quite good for a device with a foldable design.

Gizchina News of the week

In terms of optics, the OnePlus Fold will include a triple-camera setup, likely with Hasselblad tuning. The main module is a 48 MP Sony IMX890 sensor. There will also be a 48 MP ultrawide module and a 64 MP telephoto camera. There will be two selfie shooters – One 32 MP for the cover panel, and another 20 MP for the inner screen.

The OnePlus Fold will run OxygenOS 13.1 which is based on Android 13 software. It will also bring a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the fan-fave alert slider ( A unique feature that is unique to OnePlus among Android OEMs).

A New Competitor with Huge Potential

According to the leak, the OnePlus Fold will arrive in August in New York. The exact launch is yet to be revealed, but the phone should be a strong competitor for the Galaxy Z Fold5 which will launch in the last week of July.

Considering the impressive set of flagship specs equipped in the OnePlus Fold, it will put a threat to Samsung’s domain in the global foldable scene. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 makes it a direct opponent to the Galaxy Z Flip5. Samsung’s device has the slighly-overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy. Also, the OnePlus Fold availability in the U.S. is another point that may count in OnePlus’ favor. After all, consumers that are not interested in Samsung foldable or the Pixel Fold, will have another option to consider. OnePlus will have a late entrance in the foldable segment, but taking the specs and availability into account, it could soon become one of the most relevant devices in the category.
