Samsung is gearing up to introduce the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5. Currently, only 26 days remain until the launch of Samsung’s next foldable device, and the brand is giving some of the finishing touches. As is customary during the pre-launch phase, Samsung is rigorously testing the performance of its flagship devices. Thanks to that, the global variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 has been spotted on the popular Geekbench benchmark.
The next-generation foldable showcases its capabilities on Geekbench
The global variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with 12 GB of RAM, and Android 13. Worth noting that this is the second appearance of the Galaxy Z Fold5 on Geekbench. However, the first one was taken by the North American (US) model. This new variant is the one that will be sold across Europe and some regions across Asia.
This is not the regular version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It’s the “For Galaxy” variant which brings the Cortex-X3 Prime Core to 3.36 GHz. The remaining ARM Cortex-A715 and Cortex-A510 cores have the same clock speeds (2.8 GHz and 2.02 GHz, respectively) as the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Gizchina News of the week
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 will debut in Seoul, South Korea on July 26. The phone will launch alongside its clamshell foldable sibling, the Galaxy Z Flip. Among the improvements, we have a new gapless hinge that allows the phone to close down flat. This has been a long-requested design improvement and it’s great to see it’s finally happening. The phone will be slightly lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and will bring improved cameras.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 – The Specifications
The Galaxy Z Fold5 will pack a 7.6-inch inner display with 2176 x 1812 pixels and a 6.2-inch cover screen with 2316 x 904 pixels resolution. Both of these are AMOLED panels with support for a 120 Hz refresh rate. In terms of optics, the Z Fold5 will retain a triple-camera setup.
The primary camera will be a 50 MP shooter with an f/1.8 aperture. There will also be a 12 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera and a 12 MP f/2.2 telephoto shooter. It will have a regular 10 MP Selfie camera on the cover display and an under-screen camera of 4 MP resolution in the inner display. The Fold5 will draw its power from a 4,400 mAh battery with Android 13 and One UI 5.1.1 atop. Other features include NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C port.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 will offer support for a S-Pen stylus. However, the phone does not come with a slot for the S Pen. We expect Samsung to sell a separate cover case with a place where you can attach the stylus.
As the launch draws near, we expect more details to surface. Samsung will also increase its efforts to hype the handset.
