Samsung has recently released an update for the Galaxy S23 series. It brought out enhanced camera features, such as the ability to record 8K 30fps and QHD 60fps videos. Well, it seems that’s not the only update the S23 users will get in a while. Samsung has just unveiled another update.

This update for the Galaxy S23 brings an optimized 2x zoom option through the Camera Assistant app. In addition, the series now handles images inside the gallery a bit better than before.

2x zoom is not a new thing for Samsung Galaxy S23 devices. The default camera app had it since the launch. However, the default 2x zoom was nothing but a standard crop. On the other hand, the new 2x zoom is a full-fledged zoom mode, offering more details and clarity in zoomed shots.

To be exact, Samsung says that the new zoom feature is Optical Quality. In other words, the new zoom mode works as a crop on the sensor level instead of the software level. This should result in shots that are quite similar to the dedicated 10x and 3x telephoto cameras that the Galaxy S23 devices.

With the update, the gallery app of the Samsung Galaxy S23 gets AI deep learning technology. This tech enhances the quality of the pictures taken with the digital zoom camera feature. Also, with the update, some of the Portrait Video Mode effects, such as Glitch, Color Point, and Big Circle, support 30FPS recording instead of being limited to 24FPS.
