Huawei has made the Mate 60 series official. This series consists of the regular Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro, and Mate 60 Pro+. And as you can expect, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ is the top-end device of the series.
At the core, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ is based on the Pro model but comes with beefed-up components. However, the chipset is likely the same one found in the other devices. That means there won’t be that much difference in terms of the overall performance. But still, it’s still a worthy “plus” model of the series.
Main Highlights of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+
There are many factors that make the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ a decent flagship device. Let’s take a closer look:
Chipset
Huawei didn’t give any official information regarding the device’s chipset. However, we already know that the Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro come with the Kirin 9000S. It’s the first custom chipset from Huawei in years. And as Huawei is going back to using its custom chipset, the Pro+ should come with the same chipset.
I’ve already made an in-depth report on the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000S. And if you’ve missed it, it’s not as fast or efficient as the current Qualcomm flagship SoC. However, it’s better than all the current top-end mid-range devices. So, it’s not like you will get an average user experience from the Mate 60 Pro+.
RAM and Storage
Even though Huawei hasn’t directly specified the SoC of the device, the other core information is present on the official website. Among them, there’s the RAM and storage. With the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+, you get a little extra RAM up to 16GB. The regular Pro model topped out at 12GB of RAM.
When it comes to storage, you can get the Mate 60 Pro+ with up to 1TB of storage. And the good news is that the storage is expandable. Note that the device utilizes a proprietary NM card format, which tops out at 256GB. So, in total, you can get up to 1.25TB of storage on the device.
Display of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+
For the Mate 60 Pro+, Huawei has integrated the same display as the Pro model. That is, the Pro+ comes with a 6.82-inch OLED panel. However, it’s a bit sharper than the Pro model, at 1260 x 2720px. Also, this is a 10-bit panel, which means you should get lifelike and crisp-colored images on the screen.
More importantly, the screen of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ is an LTPO panel. It can operate at a refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. This variable refresh rate feature will allow the device to save battery when a high refresh rate mode is not required.

In addition, the device comes with a 300Hz touch sampling rate, letting you get a super-fast touch experience. Also, the Mate 60 Pro+ display has a 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. This feature makes the screen get the best possible brightness depending on the environmental lights around it.
For protection, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ utilizes Kunlun glass, which is a reasonably durable glass. On the of durability, the phone features an IP68 rating, making it last for half an hour at a depth of 6 meters or 20 feet.
Camera and Other Sensors
The Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ comes with three punch holes on the display. Among them, one is for the 13MP selfie camera, and the others are for the 3D ToF system. And for the rear camera setup, the phone features a 48MP primary sensor. It’s an OIS-enabled camera with a variable aperture, ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0.
This primary camera of the Mate 60 Pro+ is joined by a periscope sensor. It’s a 48MP camera with an f/3.0 lens and OIS. Finally, there’s a 40MP ultra-wide camera on the back. The ultra-wide sensor is an upgrade from the Pro model, as that device came with a 12MP sensor.
Battery and Charging Features of Huawei Mate 60 Pro+
Huawei didn’t change the battery and charging features of the Mate 60 Pro+. It comes with the same 5000mAh battery found in the regular Pro model. And this battery can charge at 88W in the wired mode. There’s 50W fast wireless charging support for those who prefer wireless charging.
Moreover, the Mate 60 Pro+ has support for 20W reverse wireless charging. Thanks to that, you can use the device’s large battery to charge your wireless charging-supported devices. And for those wondering, the phone has a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port.
Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ features a WiFi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.2. There’s a piece of good news for audio enthusiasts as the phone has support for LDAC and L2HC codecs. The spec sheet didn’t mention anything about 5G, but the phone should have 5G support if it comes with Kirin 9000S.
Like the other Mate phones, the Mate 60 Pro+ supports two-way text messaging. But the unique thing about this device is that it can make voice calls through the Tiantong satellite.
Pricing and Availability of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+
The Mate 60 Pro+ will start to ship by October 9. There’s no official pricing information on the website. All that it says is that you need to put in a CNY 1000 deposit to pre-order the phone. However, according to a recent report, the phone will start at CNY 9000, which is around 1225 USD.
