ZTE Breaks Pre-Sale Records with Nubia Z5S and Z5S Mini

ZTE may be relative newcomers on the smartphone scene but they have been absolutely killing it since their entry into the market in 2011. That trend has continued with its two newest devices to its boutique Nubia line of smart phones, the Z5S and Z5S Mini. China’s largest online retailer, JD.com (formerly 360buy.com) has received over 2.5 million preorders for the soon to be released phones according to a press release distributed by ZTE.

According to the press release, the previous record was held by rival phone manufacturer, Xiaomi. Both the Z5S and Z5S Mini are beautiful looking phones, with ZTE acting especially proud of their cameras. Both phones include 13MP rear facing cameras that feature ZTE’s new NEOVISION 3.0 system which the company claims is the first to feature “independent white-balance” to China. ZTE even goes as far as to claim that the new handsets “[have earned] the moniker of ‘Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) Smartphones.'” Anyone who has real experience with both SLR cameras and the cameras found in most of our phones will be quick to point out that ZTE is giving its own products incredibly high praise with that comment.

The Z5S also features top of the line specs: a 1920 x 1080 5-inch HD screen, the Snapdragon 800 chipset with a quad-core processor running at 2.3Ghz and 2GBs of RAM. The Z5S Mini includes slightly lower specs, with the Snapdragon 600 chipset with a quad-core processor running at 1.7 GHz, 2GB of RAM and a 720p 4.7inch screen. In addition to the 13MP back facing cameras, both phones also feature 5MP front facing cameras. The Z5S retails on JD.com for 1999 Yuan (about 329USD, 239EUR) while the Z5S Mini goes for 1499 Yuan (246USD, 179EUR) both are currently sold out. If those cameras and specs don’t convince you, maybe these Antutu benchmarks will.
