OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 12 will be the first-ever smartphone to be equipped with Sony’s brand-new sensor. It’s the Lytia dual-layer stacked sensor that Sony announced back in June of this year.
OnePlus says, “The new generation of Sony’s Lytia sensor embodies beauty with light.” The brand has also teased that the sensor will open up a new mobile photography future. In other words, the OnePlus 12 is shaping up to offer a redefined mobile camera performance.
More About the Sony Lytia Sensor of the OnePlus 12
The new Sony Lytia stacked CMOS sensor comes with two-layer transistor pixel technology. It features separate layers for the photodiode and transistor layers. This separation allowed Sony to integrate larger diodes. Also, it enables the sensor to capture more light, which is something OnePlus has already teased.
That said, the OnePlus 12 won’t be the only device that will come with the new sensor. Earlier this year, vivo and Oppo also announced their partnerships with Sony. That means the upcoming vivo X100 and Oppo Find X6 will likely come with the same sensor.
