Remember the sleek-looking smartphones from Huawei that came out with Porsche Design’s logo on the back? Well, those phones aren’t coming out anymore. While many of us didn’t notice it, the Huawei and Porsche Design partnership ended last year. Yes, the Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate is the last product from this partnership.
Right after that phone was released, Honor and Porsche Design shook hands and started to work together. That made many of us wonder if Porsche Design would work with both Honor and Huawei. As confirmed by Porsche Design (source), its partnership ended with Huawei when the company started to work with Honor.
A Little About Huawei and Porsche Design Partnership’s History, and the Road Ahead for Honor RSR Phones
Huawei and Porsche Design started to work together in 2016. With this partnership, the Chinese phone manufacturer has released a ton of sleek-looking flagships. Want to know what sets these phones apart? They would come with Huawei’s best-in-class hardware that’s paired with stunning and unique designs (check the photos attached).
Some of the phones from the Huawei and Porsche Design partnership even got upgrades that weren’t available in the regular variants. But after the Mate 60 RS Ultimate, we didn’t see Huawei or Porsche Design saying anything about upcoming phones that will be within the partnership.
Well, Honor started to work with Porsche Design at the end of last year. And the first product from this new partnership is the Magic V2 RSR. Like Huawei’s RS phones, the Magic V2 RSR came with a sleek design. As a matter of fact, it’s the best-looking foldable phone in the market. But one thing to note here is that the first Honor RSR only has a different design. The internals and other features are still the same.

Speaking of the design, we see the same type of aesthetics as Huawei’s Porsche Design phones for the Honor RSR phone. That is, it comes with a sportscar-inspired outlook. This does make the RSR Magic V2 appealing. And it could even sway some from choosing a Galaxy Fold phone. But this isn’t the only phone that the new partnership will bring.
Today, at the MWC 2024 event, Honor has confirmed the second smartphone that will be the product of this partnership. It’s the Honor Magic6 Pro RSR Porsche Design, which the company will soon share details on. Hopefully, we will see other exclusive aspects in this upcoming smartphone than just the design.
