The announcement of the the Huawei Ascend Mate is hardly surprising after all the leaked photos we had received in the lead up to CES, but what is a surprise is 4G LTE!
If you had seen any of the leaks ahead of the official unveiling of the Huawei Ascend Mate 2, then you will know that the overall design hasn’t changed all that much and we didn’t expect the hardware to differ much from the original but a few surpasses are lurking under the refined body.
Rather than using one of their own HiSilcon chips for the Ascend Mate 2, Huawei have opted for the new entry-level 1.6Ghz Snapdragon 600 processor which means the 6.1-inch phablet now has 4G LTE, which will work with most networks around the world (even in the U.S1).

Although the external differences between this and the original Mate aren’t obvious at first glance, Huawei say they have reduced the width of the phone by making the bezels narrower than before and say that the display now accounts for 79% of the front of the phone.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 will go on sale in various markets around the world later this year.
