Samsung Galaxy A06 Launched with Helio G85 and 5000mAh Battery

Samsung’s super-budget Galaxy A0 series entered its sixth generation with the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy A06. The new budget smartphone has been unveiled in Vietnam today, and will undoubtedly reach more makers in the coming days or weeks. The latest smartphone is a jack of all trades for users who want some basic app usage, web browsing, and multimedia consumption. It also shows how budget smartphones are evolving with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Storage.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Specifications and Key Features

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy A06 brings the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. The chipset is ancient at this point with its 12nm manufacturing process and 2 x ARM Cortex-A75 cores for performance. Anyway, the focus here is to offer the basic with a super appealing price. Despite its age, the Helio G85 should still deliver decent performance for basic apps, social media, web browsing, multimedia, and even gaming as long as they’re basic games. The chipset is paired with either 4 GB of RAM or 6 GB of RAM depending on the variant. These are equipped with 64 GB or 128 GB respectively. The phone also has a micro SD card slot for further storage expansion.

The Samsung Galaxy A06 has a 50 MP main camera and a secondary 2MP decorative sensor for depth reading. It comes with a decent 8 MP shooter for selfies and video calls. It sits at the center of a punch-hole cutout in a 6.7-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution. The panel also offers a 90 Hz refresh rate. It’s not the smoothest standard nowadays, but it is still miles ahead of a standard 60Hz display.

The Galaxy A06 comes with a huge 5,000 mAh battery which has 25W charging. Since this is Samsung, and we all know it has a conservative approach to fast-charging tech, the 25W is great since this is a budget smartphone. The phone has a flat look with vertical stripes at the back to deliver a unique style that goes beyond the usual cheap plastic look. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Pricing and Availability

The company promises two major Android updates for the Samsung Galaxy A06. Unfortunately, it launches at the end of Android 14’s life cycle. The Android 15 update will count as the first major update. So it reaches the deadline next year with the Android 16 release. Over in Vietnam, the phone goes on sale on August 22 for VND 3,190,000 ($127) in the 4GB/64GB variant or VND 3,790,000 ($151) in the 6GB/128GB version. Until September 30, customers will receive a free 25W charger.
