Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Apple A18 Pro – Gaming Test Reveals Interesting Results

Apple A18 Pro

Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro series boasts a new graphene thermal system. As Apple describes, it’s there to improve heat dissipation. With the A18 Pro chipset, the new phone aims to deliver enhanced performance and stability. However, how well does it compare with Android flagships that feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3?

A recent test pits the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 against the A18 Pro in the popular game Genshin Impact. The results are surprising.

How Well Can iPhone 16 Pro Handle Gaming?

To gauge the real-world performance of these devices, the YouTube channel ‘极客湾Geekerwan’ conducted extensive gaming tests. The YouTuber ran Genshin Impact, along with other demanding titles. These games were tested on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, older iPhones, and Android flagships. As for the Android phones, both Dimensity 9300+ and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 devices were considered.

However, the story takes an unexpected turn with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The smaller 6.1-inch iPhone 16 surprisingly achieved a higher frame rate than its larger 6.7-inch sibling, the iPhone 16 Plus. This suggests that factors beyond screen size and cooling play a role in determining gaming performance.

It’s important to note that not all Android devices equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 perform identically. The Xiaomi 14 Pro, despite using the same chipset, only managed to achieve an average frame rate of 38.9 FPS in Genshin Impact. This disparity highlights the impact of factors such as heat dissipation system design and performance optimization strategies employed by different manufacturers.
