Office 2024 is Here: See the Latest Features and Editions

Office 2024

Microsoft has recently introduced Office 2024, the latest version of its Office suite, along with the release of Windows 11 24H2. Unlike Microsoft 365, which requires a monthly subscription, Office 2024 sticks to the classic model: you pay once, and it’s yours forever. However, it’s important to note that while you own it, the software is not completely offline. You’ll need both a Microsoft account and an internet connection to activate and use it.

Two Versions of Office 2024

Office 2024 comes in two editions:

  • Home Edition (€149): This includes essential apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
  • Home & Business Edition (€299): Along with the basic apps, this version adds Outlook and allows you to use the software for commercial purposes.

A significant change is that Publisher is no longer part of the package, as Microsoft has officially discontinued the app. Whether you choose the Home or Home & Business edition, the software is licensed to one user and is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and the latest three versions of macOS.

What’s New in Office 2024?

While Office 2024 doesn’t bring a lot of groundbreaking features, it includes updates that were rolled out in the subscription-based Microsoft 365 over the past three years. If you’re using Office 2021, Office 2024 is an upgrade that catches you up to the latest improvements. But there’s no free upgrade path from Office 2021.

Here’s what’s new in Office 2024:

  • A refreshed design that matches the look of Windows 11, offering a more modern and streamlined interface.
  • Support for ODF 1.4 (Open Document Format), which ensures better compatibility when working with files from other software.
  • In Excel, you’ll find new features like dynamic tables and improved formulas that make working with data easier.
  • Word has enhanced document recovery, reducing the risk of losing your work.
  • Outlook features a more powerful search tool, making it easier to find emails and information quickly.
  • OneNote introduces new freehand drawing tools, perfect for creative note-taking or sketching ideas.
  • Improved accessibility options make Office 2024 more user-friendly for people with disabilities.

Additionally, Office 2024 includes general performance improvements across all apps, making them faster and more efficient to use.

Overall, Office 2024 is a solid update for those who prefer owning their software instead of subscribing to Microsoft 365, bringing new features and a polished experience that keeps up with modern needs.
