Chinese device maker Huawei have produced a number of phone running their own Hisilicon processors, but thing are about to heat up as the company prepares 3 new chipsets!
With Mediatek launching the octacore MT6592, and Qualcomm the Snapdragon 405, Huawei have had to have a serious look at their ageing line of Hilisilcon units and have come up with not 1 but 3 new SoC solutions!
Gizchina News of the week
The new chipsets will begin with a single core model for entry-level devices and wearables, a couple of quad core processors for mid-range phones and tablets and a ranging topping octacore unit. The octacore is the most exciting of the 3 as it will be a 64bit processor, boasting BIG.LITTLE architecture, 28nm manufacturing processor and offer network support for GSM/WCDMA/TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE and FDD-LTE!
More news on these new processors as we get it!
its snapdrago 805
Sorry Snapdragon 410 https://www.gizchina.com/2013/12/10/qualcomm-snapdragon-410-4g-lte-64-bit-nfc-triple-sim-coming-150-devices/
that isn’t a cortex A57/A53 though.
I wanna see cheap phones with Cortex A53 already, those are arm v8 and 64bit, we will be able to get future android versions with those. Android will stop being created in 32bit arm v7 in the not too distant future.
hmm mixed reviews there .. at 28nm this isn’t strictly an A57/A53 octocore processor, because those designs are for 20nm and 14nm parts. They are upscaling.
It will also probably be hot, and somewhat slow for the new ARMv8 parts.
But otherwise it is the first 4+4 design I’ve seen described in any detail, and probably the most powerful ARMv8 so far in terms of CPU.
The octa core chip comes with a heat->energy/juice conversion technology. so i guess the heat is good from that point of view. lol.
