Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ and 70 Pro RS Announced

Today was Huawei’s big day in China as the brand unveiled its new Huawei Mate 70 series. Besides the Huawei Mate 70 and 70 Pro, the company unveiled the highest variants in the form of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro+ and the Huawei Mate 70 RS. As you can see, while the Porsche Design branding is gone, the RS remains. These variants are more robust with more premium materials, larger batteries, and more RAM.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro+

The Mate 70 Pro+ offers a mix of durability, style, and top-notch features, making it a strong choice in Huawei’s premium lineup. However, it doesn’t quite match the RS model. Here’s a closer look at what it offers.

The phone’s back uses a mix of gold threads and brocade fiber, creating a stunning look. Its textured surface reflects light beautifully, forming star-like rings. The nylon material is tough and designed to handle impacts well, blending style with strength.

The frame is made from a Titanium alloy that Huawei calls high-brightness basalt, inspired by strong volcanic rock. This makes the phone scratch-resistant, drop-resistant, and durable overall. It also has an IP69 rating, protecting it from water and dust.

Display, Camera and Battery

The screen is a large 6.9-inch LTPO OLED with a sharp 2832×1316 resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It gets very bright, reaching up to 2,500 nits, and is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass. The display also includes a 3D face scanner for secure unlocking, while the fingerprint scanner is placed on the side for easy access.

The Mate 70 Pro+ is speculated to house Huawei’s Kirin 9020 chipset, backed by 16GB of RAM as a standard configuration. To ensure smooth performance and responsiveness, it integrates Huawei’s Ark Engine, optimizing system operations for a seamless user experience.

The rear camera setup includes a 50MP RYYB main sensor with a 24mm variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, offering excellent versatility for different lighting conditions. Complementing it is a 40MP RYYB ultrawide camera with a 13mm f/2.2 lens and a 48MP RYYB telephoto lens with a 92.5mm focal length, f/2.1 aperture, and 4x optical zoom. The telephoto lens also supports close focusing for detailed shots. All three cameras include autofocusing, ensuring sharp and precise captures. On the front, a 13MP f/2.4 selfie camera handles self-portraits and video calls.

Gizchina News of the week

The device’s robust 5,700mAh battery offers more capacity than its Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro siblings. Charging options are equally impressive, with support for 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging, enabling quick top-ups for all-day use.

The RS model retains the 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution, but it upgrades to a dual-layer OLED panel. This advanced display achieves an impressive peak brightness of 3,500 nits, delivering exceptional clarity and vibrancy even under bright sunlight.

Protection is also enhanced with “Basalt tempered Kunlun glass”. It provides stronger resistance against scratches and impacts compared to the standard Kunlun Glass, ensuring both durability and premium aesthetics.

The Huawei Mate 70 RS shares many of its core specifications with the Mate 70 Pro+, offering powerful performance and cutting-edge features. It is equipped with a 5,700mAh battery, ensuring long-lasting use, and supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging for rapid refueling.

Like the Pro+ model, it includes 16GB of RAM and offers storage options of 512GB or 1TB, providing ample space for apps, photos, and videos. Its triple rear camera system mirrors the Pro+ configuration, delivering exceptional versatility for photography.
