MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ To Launch in March

In recent years, it has been usual to see mid-year revisions for each flagship chipset. While Qualcomm tends to skip it one year or another, MediaTek has consistently launched two versions of each flagship chipset. Last year, we had the Dimensity 9300, and some months later the Dimensity 9300+. Therefore, it’s natural to expect the chipmaker to introduce a new variant of the Dimensity 9400 later this year. According to a new report, this will happen sooner than expected. The MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ could launch as soon as March.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ Coming Earlier with Overclocked Cortex-X925 core

As per the popular tipster, Digital Chat Station, MediaTek is gearing up to introduce the Dimensity 9400+ earlier than usual. The leaker further states that the CPU in the new chip will see a slight overclock in its stock frequencies. Shortly after the announcement, we may see smartphones starting to incorporate the new chip.

The tipster suggested the arrival of two new smartphones, that may come equipped with the new chipset. One will feature a “smaller flat panel with a periscope camera on the back” and a “larger cameraphone”. Both will be equipped with flat panels (without any 2.5D curves). It’s soon to make assumptions about the identity of these devices, but they could be the Vivo X200S and the Oppo Find X8S.

Usually, MediaTek introduces the Plus variant of its flagship chipset in the second half of the year. However, the company might be planning a different strategy this time. Launching the 9400+ earlier will allow smartphone OEMs to embrace it sooner. The company may see more interest in its upgraded chipset, and the second half of the year usually sees interest growing for the next generation. The standard MediaTek Dimensity 9400 has a leading ARM Cortex-X925 core operating at a frequency of 3.63 GHz. It is expected to reach 3.7 GHz in the Plus variant.
