YouTube Expands Features for Premium Users

YouTube Premium

YouTube is testing new features for Premium subscribers. One of the biggest updates is 4x playback speed, making it easier to watch videos faster. This joins other new tools aimed at improving the viewing and listening experience.

Faster Playback, Better Sound, and More

A standout feature in testing is Jump Ahead. Available on web browsers, it lets users skip unnecessary scenes and go straight to key moments. This is great for those who want to bypass long intros and repetitive content.

YouTube is also improving audio quality. 256 kbps high-quality audio is now available for music and podcasts, delivering richer and clearer sound.

For Shorts fans, YouTube has introduced Smart Downloads and Picture-in-Picture Mode on iOS. Smart Downloads automatically saves Shorts for offline viewing, while Picture-in-Picture lets users watch Shorts while multitasking.

New YouTube Premium Features in Testing

YouTube Premium members can now try these features:

  • 4x Speed Playback – iOS and Android (until February 26)
  • Shorts Smart Downloads – iOS (until February 19)
  • Picture-in-Picture Mode for Shorts – iOS (until February 19)
  • 256 kbps High-Quality Audio – iOS and Android (until February 22)
  • Jump Ahead Feature – Web (until February 5)

More Control, More Convenience

These updates aim to make YouTube more user-friendly. Premium users already enjoy ad-free videos, and these tools add more convenience. Faster playback, better audio, and smart navigation help users get the most out of their content.

However, some users worry about Smart Downloads for Shorts filling up phone storage. YouTube may refine this based on feedback.
