Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are taking different paths. Google is adding more apps, while Apple stays quiet about future plans.

More Apps Coming to Android AutoCarPlay Android Auto

Google is expanding Android Auto with a new program called “car-ready mobile apps.” This will bring more apps to the platform. Developers are excited to bring their apps to both Android Auto and CarPlay.

One new app, DKV Mobility, now works with Android Auto and CarPlay. Users just need to update the app on their phones.

What DKV Mobility Offers

DKV Mobility helps drivers find gas stations and charging points. It also lets them pay for fuel without leaving their cars. The app provides access to:

  • Over 200,000 public charging points
  • 66,000 fuel stations
  • A navigation tool to plan routes based on a vehicle’s range

On Android Auto and CarPlay, the app doesn’t have every mobile feature. But users can still find gas stations, charging points, and car washes on the car’s screen. Each listing shows fuel types and charging details, helping EV drivers find what they need without checking their phones.

DKV Mobility isn’t the only app of its kind. Many drivers already use PlugShare, ChargePoint, and ABRP for EV charging and route planning. Still, more apps on Android Auto and CarPlay make driving easier.

Google Wants More Apps, Apple Stays Quiet

Google is working to add new app categories, including:

  • Video apps (like YouTube and Netflix)
  • Games
  • Web browsers

Once these features arrive, drivers may be able to browse the web, play games, or watch videos in their cars. Netflix might even launch an Android Auto app.
