If there has to be one reason why I would give up my Find 5 for a OnePlus One, it has to be the camera. As it stands, I cannot afford to go places with a DSLR, and the Find 5 isn’t good enough more often than not. OnePlus have been highly vocal about their first outing, especially about the camera which apparently is going to be one among the best.
Martinrm of the OnePlus forums, who managed to get his hands on a OnePlus One camera testing unit, posted the comparison on the forums some time back, and the results should bring a smile to your face.
Find 5 vs. OnePlus One vs. Nikon D3100 camera comparison
Order (left to right): Find 5, OnePlus One, and Nikon D3100
Pictures from the OnePlus One, in all honesty, look quite impressive for a smartphone. At times, as you might have noticed, colours seem to pop out a little extra giving you a feeling of exaggerated colours. What I like the most is the sense of depth in the pictures, which is clearly lacking in those taken on the Find 5.
Gizchina News of the week
Another huge advantage the OnePlus One camera seems to have over the Find 5 is the amount of noise in low-light pictures. Compared to the Find 5, the OnePlus One does incredibly well and isn’t too far from the quality of an entry-level DSLR. For more pictures, you can head over to the OnePlus One forums where the thread was originally found.
Smartphone manufacturers really seem to want consumers to get rid of standalone cameras. An infant company such as OnePlus managing to pull off something like this only makes you ponder what the big guns are capable of, and why they aren’t light years ahead already.

comparing phone cams, with dslrs,is pure joke.
Basically its idiotic the least.
i agree… but its funny that he messed up some pictures he took with the d3100 very much
you can’t really blame them for that. It’s still one major selling point for many potential buyer. While in the end people mostly will use their smartphone to take picture of their food and selfies (wtf) but still it is some major requirement to a very large proportion of people, larger than I care to admit. Well, the rest are Hayday, Candy Crush and Clash of Clan which are some third party “function” they can’t really show.
In the ideal world when people use smartphone for true smart activity like Google Drive, DuoLinggo (which still more entertainment than true education), dictionary, Google Keep and in my case navigation (due to the nature of my work), fitness companion, some time management function, productivity need and maybe some Play Book or Moon Reader then maybe they (manufacturer/OEM) can started to showed the real deal. Until then, you can’t really call them idiotic, it’s the thing most buyers concern.
Pff.. what a shit of comparative
Completely agree with you. Really now? Oppo Find 5?? Hilarious. A company touting to “never settle” and supposedly sport cutting edge hardware does a photo comparison with a 2 year old device? Epic.
The comparison pictures come from a forum member who won the Photo Mania contest, and is testing the OnePlus One camera through a camera test unit. The Find 5 features perhaps because he owns one.

Looks like Fake. No EXIF, some pictures looks like photoshop edited images.
Thanks for the article. The reason that Martinrm used oppo find5 in comparison may be that he owns that smartphone.
I like the tests and want my smartphone camera to be as good as it can be.
